I designed the new frame cross member to be modular. That is I didn't have a clue as to what was going to be needed to fasten it to the Alpine chassis. I wound up cutting sheet metal from the trunk floor back to the rear spring frame support. I measured the pieces needed, cut and welded them in. I was clever. I measured each side, added them together, divided by two and cut the pieces to that dimension. This ensures that the new frame is centered on the body. My welds will need some rework because this rear member is where the parachute will attach (Hmmm, should i use two? May have to because of speed capability). As before, many ruff flame cut edges to be cleaned up before new decking is welded in.
